God's Words
What has God been saying to you this week?
When we lived in Christchurch, we had a weekly fun games night with two other couples. One of them was a retired Baptist minister and he would often challenge us with the question:
“What has God been saying to you this week?”. The first time he asked I had to think hard, after that I would go prepared with an answer of what I had felt the Lord was encouraging / challenging me on that week.
Recently I have been challenged on being the “light in a dark world”. How does my witness stand up against the standards or actions of the world? Am I being a shining light for Jesus or am I hiding His light under a bushel? Non-Christians watch us all the time, especially those who know we are followers of God. We are his ambassadors, how cool is that?
The Call to Be the Light - Matthew 5 verses 14 to 16:
·Verse 14: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”
·Verse 15: “Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.”
·Verse 16: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
So, my challenge to us all is: “What has God been saying to you this week”?
Remember we are not alone – we are part of God’s family, supporting one another and we have our loving Father right beside us walking with us daily.
