One Faith, Many Backgrounds

One Faith, Many Backgrounds

When we look around the church from the pew, we see people from many different backgrounds, cultures, generations and life experiences. We may not always think alike, worship in exactly       the same way, or share the same traditions — but there is something far greater that brings  us together: our faith in Jesus Christ.

Romans 15:7 reminds us: “Accept   one another, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.”

What a powerful challenge that is. Christ has welcomed each of us, not because we are all the same, but because of His love and grace. As His church, we are called to extend that same welcome to one another.

Romans 14:1–4 reminds us not to judge one another over differences of opinion or practice. There will always be things we see differently, but those differences do not have to divide us. We belong to the same Lord, and it is God who ultimately stands as our judge.

A church made up of people from different cultures and backgrounds is not a problem to be overcome — it can and is a beautiful picture of God's kingdom.

Many backgrounds, many stories, many cultures, but one Lord, one faith and one family.
