Parish Christmas Luncheon

After a wonderful, combined service, we moved into the hall, greeted by a beautifully festive setting with tables in Christmas décor. Our MCs, Jonathan and Emma, warmly welcomed everyone, and the Vicar’s Warden, Steve Scaife, opened the event with a heartfelt prayer.

Within minutes, the first course was served, setting the tone for an afternoon of fellowship and joy. As we enjoyed our main meal, we were treated to delightful entertainment: Philip Gibbison on the French horn playing the tune of Noel, followed by Tom Jarrett singing and playing Let It Snow.

Shortly after the main course, our eyes and taste buds were delighted with a choice of pavlova or trifle both absolutely delicious! The entertainment continued with a video of Matthew West singing Because of Bethlehem. Next, young Nathan Vistar impressed us with a beautiful piano rendition of Jingle Bells. Nathan’s progress over the years has been remarkable such a talented young musician!

Guan then graced us with Angels We Have Heard on High, even teaching us the chorus in Chinese. To our surprise, it wasn’t too hard, and Guan was most impressed with our efforts!

Our next treat was traditional Christmas cake, followed by Tom leading us in the very Kiwi version of Jingle Bells. More musical solos followed, with Tom on the saxophone and Philip once again on the French horn.

The afternoon also featured a heartfelt moment as Deo shared My St Christopher’s Story a journey of joy, gratitude, and God’s faithfulness, highlighting many memorable moments since his first day in September 2021.

We closed the celebration with the carol Te Harinui and a blessing, bringing a beautiful end to a day filled with fellowship and thanksgiving.

A special thank you to Jonathan and Emma for their wonderful job as MCs, keeping the programme flowing seamlessly. Our meal was lovingly prepared and cooked by four talented ladies from Marlborough Girls’ College, thank you! And to everyone involved in organising and setting up, your efforts made this event truly special.

We are deeply blessed by the grace of God and give thanks for His goodness.
