This brief reflection was first published in the Church’s service sheet for Sunday, 2 November 2025, when the congregation received an updated list of ministry and serving opportunities. In it, I encourage every member to see their unique contribution as vital to the life and growth of the church.
One of the key images Scripture gives us for the church is that of a body. The beauty of a body is that it has many different parts. Each one is unique, each one is vital, and each has a specific role in keeping the body healthy and growing. When one part does not function, the whole body feels it. When every part plays its part, the body flourishes. So it is with the church. We are one body in Christ, yet made up of many members with diverse gifts. Some roles are seen more easily than others. Leading music may appear more visible than setting up chairs for morning tea, but both are essential to the life and growth of the body.
This Sunday you will receive an updated list of ministry and serving opportunities across our church family. These are not just tasks to complete. They are opportunities to help build up the body of Christ, whether through music, technology, children’s ministry, home groups, eldercare, or other areas of service. I encourage you to read the list with an open and prayerful heart. Ask the Lord where he may be leading you to serve. You may feel unsure of your gifts or limited in time, yet God delights to work through willing hearts. Even the smallest act of service can become a great blessing.
Pray, consider, and take a joyful step into serving – your part matters here.
