Newcomers Lunch 23rd November 2025

A group of almost 40 met in the hall, made up of Newcomers, St Christopher’s Church Staff, Vestry members and Parishioners.

Donna Wahrlich, our very good M.C kept the meeting interesting and flowing with formal introductions of the staff and the People’s Warden, Mary Griffiths and the Vicar’s Warden, Steve Scaife, followed by the Vestry members.  Each gave a brief oversight of their roles in the St Christopher’s Church family.

Guan then introduced us to a fun game so we would get to know each other a bit better.

Ellen Anderson and her kitchen staff then provided us with a wonderful lunch which was enjoyed by everyone.  Thank you!

After lunch Deo gave an informative history of the Anglican Church and the fundamental basics of belonging.  This was followed by an explanation of the St Christopher’s story starting in 1905, which was an extension of the Nativity Church for a long time, until independence in 1989.

Deo then asked if there were any questions.  Only one was asked about finding a new Vicar. Deo then asked Mary to explain the process of seeking his replacement, and assured everyone they would be kept well informed.

To conclude, Steve Scaife thanked everybody present and finished in prayer, after which newcomer’s packs were available to anyone who was interested.
