Eldercare Ministry

The Eldercare Ministry of St Christopher’s seeks to reduce social isolation and enhance the mental and physical wellbeing of older people living in the Redwoodtown area. The role includes the organisation of activities and working alongside volunteers and other agencies involved in Eldercare services. On the 4th Thursday of the month we hold a special seminar day for the elderly. See details below.


SAYGo BALANCE & EXERCISE CLASSES

11.30am - 12.30pm EVERY TUESDAY. $2 each day.

SAYGo ( Steady As You Go ) These classes are run in conjunction with Age Concern. They improve your flexibility, general fitness and well being, and are also pivotal in addressing falls improvement. Classes run for 45 minutes, followed by a cup of tea and a game or two.


KEEPING YOU MOVING

11.30am - 12.30pm. THURSDAYS (1st, 2nd, & 3rd). $2 each day.

Keeping U Moving aims to maintain and increase mobility, fitness and balance by offering a walking programme where walkers can keep track of their progress as they walk around the hall to music. A balance class is included in the programme.

For ages 50 and above. Located in St Christopher's Church Hall. Bookings are essential - eldercare@stchristophers.co.nz. Stay and enjoy a cup of tea afterwards.


Older Person Seminar

10AM-1PM (4th Thursday of the month). $5 EACH DAY.

ElderCare runs a monthly Older Person Seminar on the 4th Thursday of the month. Each seminar has a local guest speaker who talks about a topic relevant to older people. This event is very well attended, with 60-80 coming each month.

Morning tea and lunch are included.
